Adium

January 18th, 2004 by Jeffrey

In the tradition of making our favorite chat program easy to migrate to, we can now import Proteus and Fire logs.

There is a php script to import fire logs (which are just HTML, and AIGhettoHTMLDecoder can handle them just fine) and a perl script to import Proteus logs. Both can be found in the Utilities folder of hte Adium source.

The Proteus one will be able to import MSN and such soon.

There are directions on how to run the scripts in the scripts themselves.

All you RSS’ers — and I know you exist — the RSS feed has moved to http://cia.navi.cx/stats/project/adium/.rss.

This one will actually update 🙂

I just fixed a silly mistake preventing the log viewer from displaying logs after a content search.

If you’re having problems with the log viewer, quit Adium and trash (From your home folder) ~/Library/Caches/Adium/

If the problems persist after trashing this folder, let me know.

I don’t agree at all with requiring a description on crash reports, this has been removed for tomorrow’s binary.

I think it makes sense that email and description are required fields. The Crash Reporter will now remind you that you need to fill these fields out. Thanks so much for helping us to make Adium a better program. Your crash reports really do mean a lot to us, keep ’em comin’ 🙂

Quite a few bug and crash fixes over the past few days. 🙂 If you are still experiencing crashes:

1) Upgrade to the newest binary

2) Submit your crash using Adium’s built-in crash reporter

– Please include your email address (so we can contact you if necessary).

– Please include a short description briefly describing the crash.

– Try not to submit more than one log for a specific crash each day.

– If a crash persists, submit it once for each binary until the issue is resolved.

Thanks for your cooperation everyone 🙂

I’ve tweaked some stuff so we’re no longer sending HTML out to non-AIM users. This should make us a lot less annoying on the other protocols :-D.

Monday’s binary should fix the crash-on-launch problems a lot of people were seeing… and bring other fun stuff.

Jabber now works – you must use jabber.org as libgaim 0.73 doesn’t give us the ability to change the server (I believe newer versions will later on). Requests, such as are seen when a buddy tried to add you to her list in MSN or Jabber, now work.

Yahoo is broken and will remain broken until we can upgrade Adium to use libgaim 0.75 – the authentication method changed and we can’t do anything about it in 0.73.

In a press conference with Adam Iser, I asked him about the crash reports regarding the new Contact List Editor. His response:

Shocking, folks. 🙂

Remove any non-standard plugins you have installed.

A few of you keep sending in crash reports caused by an out of date version of TicTacToe or the deprecated Oscar service plugin.
