Adium 0.59 has arrived. Tons of bug and crash fixing in this release, so it should prove pretty nice. 0.59 fixes the issues with crashing on launch and tabs occasionally not appearing, along with many other issues. We’ve also added support for assigning custom icons to contacts, and have added a preference for choosing the tab switching keys.

Big thanks to everyone in #adium last night who helped to make this a better release. Let us know how it goes, enjoy 🙂

Also, keep in mind that the forums and IRC are great ways to get support. We’ve got one of the best user communities of any program out there… and of course those are good ways to find us developers, too. 🙂

Mmm, back to working on medical school applications… Adium X 0.59 coming soon!

In an effort to generate more coding time, I will no longer be responding to every feedback or bug report email we receive. I appreciate the emails, and will definitely continue to read them (relaying the information to the rest of the team and filing issues on our internal list), but they’ve grown too large in number since the initial release of Adium X.

If you’re writing for support, make sure you send mail to, genuine support requests get top priority in our email box and will receive a reply.

Feedback and bugs should go to , and Thanks for your understanding 🙂

For the 10.2 users having trouble with the Message preferences: I have wreaked major fixination upon the Message prefs, and everything should work much better in .59. 🙂

On a sidenote, I’m out for a week to be a counselor at a HOBY seminar. I’m curious: are there any other HOBY alumni Adium users out there? If you are, e-mail me: dcclark [at] mtu [dot] edu

I’m happy to announce something wonderful today. But before I get to that, I’d just like to let everyone know that I am finally a High School graduate. I graduated on Saturday from ‘Iolani School. Thanks for all the memories and all the years, guys.

Now that that’s out of the way, I’m pleased to announce Planet Adium. You can view the blogs of Adium developers and contributors, all in one place. Thanks to James Cox for hosting. Be sure to check out Planet IM as well, a Planet for the larger Instant Messaging community.

Alright, 0.58.1 is now available. It adds support for server-side AIM contact notes and aliases, ‘new mail’ notifications, and a bunch of other cool stuff. 🙂

I’m disappointed that some update sites feel the need to post our releases before we’ve announced them. 🙁 If we were ready for it to be downloaded, we would have sent out the notifications.

The 0.58.1 release isn’t on all the mirrors yet, when it’s ready we will post it here. If you have difficultly downloading or slow download speeds, please try again a little later in the day.

Adium 0.58 is currently spreading around the sourceforge mirrors, and will be available soon 🙂

We post releases early for users in our irc channel (#adium on so they can discover any problems before everyone else gets ahold of the release.

All issues with a yet-unreleased version of Adium should be reported in #adium where the download link was distributed, so we can decide whether the issue is large enough to warrant posting an update.

If you’ve managed to find the release early (or received the link from someone else), please visit #adium and discuss the issue with us directly. Please do not report issues to the forum, since we’re likely not to see them. Please do not distribute the download link outside of #adium until we’ve officially released.
