Perez from the forums has written a tutorial for making Message Views. Get to it at http://www.adiumx.com/tutorial/ and keep those message views coming.

Yay! The Xtras! site is suffering overbooking. There are about 25 xtras to be approved, Benjamin’s out of town and summer is affecting the mod team speed, so don’t worry if your xtra is taking long to be approved, we are doing our best.

Thanks a lot for all that cool stuff being submitted! 🙂

If you’re crashing on launch in 0.62, navigate to (from your home folder):

~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/

and delete the file “Sounds.plist”. We made changes to how sound preferences are stored and some users’ custom sound sets are causing issues. Resetting the sound preferences by deleting this file should clear everything up.

Adium 0.62 is now available! 🙂

This release fixes an issue that was causing server-side contact list corruption (in rare situations) and is a recommended upgrade for all Adium users.

0.62 also brings an assortment of new custom sorting options, improvements to contact alerts, improved proxy support, and minor changes to many other areas of Adium. See the version history for a full listing of what’s changed.

A very small number of users have reported a nasty bug where their AIM serverside list was partially deleted. We have found the source of the bug and fixed it for Adium X 0.62 (available within 24 hours of this post).

For users who were affected, I’ve written a small program which will use Adium X’s preference files (which are independent of the serverside list though not sufficient to fully reconstruct it) to create an AIM .blt file suitable for importing via the official AIM client (File->Import while signed on). The .blt file (AIMContacts.blt, created on your desktop) contains all buddies which have ever been on an AIM account’s buddy list in Adium X; groups are not included, as Adium does not store that information locally, so they are all listed in the “Buddies” group. Hopefully this will help anyone who was unfortunate enough to run into this problem. We’re sorry for any inconvenience it caused 🙂

A few of the mirrors don’t have 0.61 yet, so if you get an error downloading try another mirror. I know the Minneapolis and Sydney mirrors have the release, and the others should follow shortly.

Sorry for the trouble 🙂

Welcome to Adium 0.61! This is an particularly exciting release which brings to the table features for which we’ve gotten tons of requests. MSN File Transfer, buddy icons in MSN and Yahoo!, an image picker for setting your own buddy icon from within Adium, and lots of small things. Stability should be even better than 0.60 (which was, to judge from the much-reduced level of crash reports, a step in the right direction), and launch time has been, like the prices at your local used car lot, slashed.

On the GUI side of things, we hope you like the new tab status indicators as much as we do; don’t worry, the insane (but functional) customizability you’ve come to know and love in Adium will come to them in the near future, with the creation of an Adium Xtra pack for tab status icons. As usual, check out the Version history for all the changes, and enjoy! 🙂

Better than a temporary solution, Cerulean Studios fixed the Yahoo authentication problem and shared with the open source community in next to no time. Go team! 🙂

Yahoo! has changed their protocol and Adium is currently unable to connect. We hope to have a temporary solution available soon.

0.60 showed up a few days early, woohoo! 🙂
